What you actually learn
Three things.
In this order.
Most people arrive able to say hello and thank you, and stop there because nothing underneath was ever built. The Thai course builds the underneath.
The script
ก to ฮ, in your own handwriting.
Thai is written without spaces between words, which is why guessing at it never works. You learn the consonant classes, the vowels that sit above, below, before and after the letter, and the rules that decide how a syllable ends. Once it clicks, the city starts labelling itself: signs, menus, forms, the destination on the front of the bus.
The tones
Five of them, drilled until they stop being frightening.
Mid, low, falling, high, rising. The same syllable carries a different meaning in each one, and most self-taught speakers are stuck because nobody ever corrected their pitch. Here a teacher hears you every session and fixes it on the spot, which is the one part of Thai you genuinely cannot learn from an app.
The speaking
The Thai you need before Friday, not in year three.
Classes are built around errands you already have to run. Ordering the food you actually want. Getting a price and negotiating it. Explaining what you need at a counter and understanding the answer. You will speak in every session, badly at first, which is exactly the point.
One syllable. Three meanings.
Say ขาว when you meant ข้าว and you have just asked for white. This is the drill, every session, until your ear does it for you.

Levels & structure
From “I cannot read
a word” to advanced.
Beginners start at the alphabet with no Thai at all. Everyone else gets placed where they actually are, which is usually further back than they hoped and further forward than they feared. Nobody sits through a level they have already earned.
You start
At the alphabet, or at the point where self-teaching stopped working. A short conversation with a teacher decides which, before you pay for the wrong thing.
You join the level you belong in
Beginner and advanced classes run at the same time, so you can join any level at any point. Nobody waits months for the next intake to come round, and nobody sits through a level they have already earned.
Working through them faster than expected does not cut your stay short either. The visa stays valid for the full duration you paid for.
You finish with proof
A certificate of completion with the school name on it, and Thai you can use without rehearsing it in your head first.
Our own textbooks
We wrote the material ourselves, so the vocabulary is the vocabulary of this city rather than a chapter about a farm. Nothing photocopied from another school, and the book is yours to keep.

Classes run at the school in the Lake Rajada Office Complex on Ratchadapisek Road, Klong Toey. Being corrected out loud, in person, by someone who heard exactly which tone you missed is the entire reason this works faster than an app.

Kept small enough that you speak in every session rather than listening to someone else speak. Nobody hides at the back of a Thai class here.

Thai runs Monday to Thursday, mornings or afternoons, with an online beginner class on Monday and Wednesday evenings for people who are at work in the day. The week repeats, so the slot you pick is the slot you keep.

Start any week
There is no term and no fixed intake. The timetable repeats every week, so you start in the week that suits you rather than waiting for the next cohort. Most people join a beginner class, and joining part-way through a chapter is normal at that level.

80% of the classes, and 80% means 80%
The course requires you to attend 80% of it. Sick days count inside that 80% rather than being excused on top of it, so leave yourself a real margin. Taking a break is fine as long as you finish above the line.

Education Visa
The Thai course is
also the visa.
Enrolling on this course qualifies you for Education Visa support, which is how a lot of people find us and not why they stay. The difference between here and a visa shop is that the class on your paperwork is a class that actually happens, with a teacher, a textbook and a certificate at the end of it.

Do I need to know any Thai before I start?
No. Beginners start at the alphabet with nothing at all, which is how most students arrive.
If you already have some Thai, a short conversation with a teacher places you where you actually are, so you do not pay to sit through material you already know.
When do the Thai classes run?
Monday to Thursday. The conversation classes are 2 hours, either 10am to 12pm or 1pm to 3pm, and one beginner group runs online from 6pm to 8pm on Monday and Wednesday for people who are at work during the day.
Writing is a separate strand on Monday, Tuesday and Wednesday afternoons. The whole grid repeats every week, so once you have a slot it stays where it is.

Will I learn to read and write Thai, or only speak it?
Both. Reading and writing the Thai script is part of the course, not an optional extra.
Thai is written without spaces between words, so guessing at it from transliteration stops working quickly. Learning the script is what turns the signs, menus and forms around you into something you can use.
Does the Thai course qualify for the Education Visa?
Yes. We file the Education Visa ourselves as your school, and enrolling on the Thai course qualifies you for it.
It covers a legal stay in Thailand of up to 14 months, and we hold a 99.9% approval rate on the applications we file. We prepare the paperwork with you and walk you through each extension.

Textbooks we wrote ourselves, taught by certified teachers. The vocabulary is built around what a foreigner living in Bangkok actually needs to say, rather than borrowed from a general course written for somewhere else.
Do I get anything at the end?
A certificate of completion with the school name on it, and a Certificate of Study while you are enrolled. Both are worth having for an employer, for the next school, and for the next conversation with immigration.
What we do not issue: a residence certificate, which comes from your embassy or from immigration rather than from a school, and a student ID card, which we do not produce at all.
What does the Thai course cost?
36,000 THB for 8 months, or 47,500 THB for 14 months. Both are package prices covering the Thai course and the Education Visa support that goes with it, for the whole duration.
Payment is upfront and in full, with no installment plan. The fee does not cover the immigration renewal fees you pay at immigration when the stamp is extended.

No to both. There is no age limit and no nationality is excluded.
Every application is still assessed case by case, and the assessment is made from your passport. Send us the photo page and your Thai entry stamps from the last 2 years and we will tell you where you stand before you pay anything.
How much of the course do I have to attend?
80% of it. Sick days count inside that 80% rather than being excused on top of it, so the real margin is smaller than it sounds.
Taking a break is fine as long as you still finish above the line.
Can I switch to Chinese or English part-way through?
No. The study language is fixed for the enrolment. You cannot change it mid-course, so pick the one you actually want before you start.
